Now, I like a good horror movie as much as the next person so I was keen to watch ‘Curse of Chucky’. I am partial to the more supernatural horror movies like Polterguiest, or movies with demons and spirits and ghosts. I am not into the Saw type horror movies as a personal preference. So I figured I’d give ‘Curse of Chucky’ as go as I’d never seen any of the Chucky related movies.
So apparently in this version, I don’t know if this is every version but, Chucky was I guess a psycho guy who tried to kidnap a woman and make her and her kids his family and then he got shot and somehow had this mystical power (which like creates storms and stuff) to put his consciousness in a doll for revenge which is just wild to me. He then kills several families over the years before getting back to the family he wanted revenge on. Why’d Chucky kill all those other families before getting back to who he really wanted? However, we don’t find any of this out until the end of the movie. They just randomly throw magic in at the end of the movie. Anyway, I’m getting ahead of myself.
So, 40 minutes in and there is so much familial exposition yet nothing really goes on. In the beginning Chucky is delivered to the house and the paraplegic girls mother is killed (presumably by Chucky) but we didn’t even see what happened, so that was kind of boring. The girls family moves in to “help” her and sell the house a little while after the death along with their live-in nanny and the reverend is just chilling with them.
Then a little while later and the Reverend is killed but far from where Chucky was and he is beheaded. But really, we don’t see Chucky do anything for the first half of the movie.
Also, Chucky is kind of an asshole, he stabs the paraplegic girl in the leg, I’m guessing as like a joke about her not being able to feel it or something? Honestly I’m not sure because he’s already killed 2 people by then, why resort to a shallow stab in the leg? Why didn’t Chucky kill the girl the first night with her mother, he easily could have? Why’s he waste time if he wants to kill her?
Then Chucky electrocutes a girl but all he had to do was knock over a bucket of water. Low effort if you ask me. Also, he cuts Barb’s eye out and I guess she dies instantly?
Chucky’s power seems really insurmountable. He can cause car crashes, stop elevators, talk, hide knives and stab people and can potentially block cell service so why does he take so long to do anything. This begs the question; what is he doing, he could seemingly kill all of them very easily so why isn’t he. Why did he kill the mum, then leave Nica alone. Then, the Reverend didn’t do anything like that and apparently his cross didn’t save him from Chucky so that wasn’t a threat? And, if Chucky could kill the Revered in a car crash miles away from the house without doing anything why’s he struggle so much to kill the family?
What really astounds me is, Chucky just speaks when spoken to, moves himself and can literally turn his own head 180 degrees but they just act like that is normal. The brother-in-law literally asks Chucky to tell him all the things he can say and Chucky just starts spouting crap. Moral being – Chucky is bad at hiding his powers and these people are dumb.
Another problem I have is, Chucky is ginormous, he is the size of the child carrying him around. Although I will admit, he’s creepy as! He’s also kind of funny to look at and his movement is laughable and his voice is just weird.
It also does kind of bug me that I can see the paralyzed girl’s legs moving sometimes, I understand it was probably hard for the actress to entirely stop her moving her legs at all but it is still irritating.
It’s cool that the doll is an animatromic however, I don’t think it looks better than it would have if they used CGI. The CGI rain and ending were also just crap. Maybe that’s why they didn’t CGI Chucky, because they couldn’t make him look good with their CGI budget…
So as a whole, if you want a laugh and to watch a weird little animatronic doll walk around with a knife, sure watch this newest Chucky. However, you can’t just put scary music in and a creepy doll and think that’s enough. ‘Curse of Chucky’ is not scary. It just doesn’t make any sense to me.

Okay, so for any who didn’t see; Anna Kendrick starred in a new show in 2020 called ‘Love Life’ which followed Anna Kendrick’s character, Darby, going through her young adulthood trying to find love. Now, I love Anna Kendrick ,I really do, and I think she was great in this but ‘Love Life’ wasn’t for me. Anna Kendrick is great however, this has nothing to do with her. Each episode we watch Darby in a different time in her life. Forewarning, I did not finish the show because it was making me feel a bit depressed to be honest. So this is just my interpretation from what I did see.
So, firstly, let me say, the acting in ‘Love Life’ is not bad and neither is the plot or story-line. I have no issues with these aspects. I honestly kind of love them showing a woman in her adulthood who doesn’t have everything figured out. Some of these romantic interests just ended because the people were at different points in their lives or wanted different things. I think it was really honest and I applaud them for that. They had Darby being a strong woman with a career and it wasn’t easy for Darby to find her love.
So, in the beginning of watching the show I felt like it was kind of cute. I enjoyed watching Anna Kendrick finding love however, it isn’t that simple. Like I said, the show is honest. However, for those who don’t know (spoiler) each episode shows Darby’s relationship with a different person. So, because of that, every episode we watch Darby find someone, be happy and inevitably break up with them. This was hard for me to watch, this isn’t a long show and for each episode to be such an emotional roller-coaster for the audience was a lot.
I definitely understand why they did this and it does show some realities about relationships and love, but, as a viewer it was confronting. To watch this cute relationship and happiness come crashing down and hurting them, every 40 minutes. I just couldn’t take it.
That said, there are lots of good aspects to this show, for instance, we watch Darby growing with her friends in a realistic way as their lives change. We watch Darby coming to terms with who she is and who she wants to be and succeeding in her career.
So, this post is not intended to tell you not to watch ‘Love Life’ but it is to somewhat shed some light on what it is really about and how it made me feel. As I was watching these relationships turn bad or people treat Darby poorly, it made me feel really low and depressed and I soon realized I wasn’t going to stop seeing and feeling these things until the end. So, I didn’t finish it. But maybe you will. ‘Love Life’ is available on Aussie Stan if you want to check it out, but this one just wasn’t for me, and that’s totally okay. I respect what they were trying to do here and I respect the honesty but it just made me sad watching it.

I recently checked out ‘Blood and Water’ on Netflix which follows a young South African girls mission to find out what happened to her sister who was taken from the hospital the day she was born 17 years ago.
How the hell does Puleng keep her socks up
Puleng actually broke into the principals office to steal a birth certificate which for some reason the school had, which actually wouldn’t mean anything even if she was born in the hospital her sister was?
Why were fikile’s parents so shook when they found out about the stolen baby it was all over the news when it happened and all over the news recently when her dad got arrested?
Just because she has the same birthday and same age as your sister doesn’t mean anything- wouldn’t they change the birth date if they were going to forge a birth certificate for a trafficked baby?
None of Fik’s friends told her sleeping with her coach was messed up
How old is Puleng? She gets into a party and gets served alcohol but its a 17th birthday party and her sister was older than her so at bare minimum she is 16 if her mum got pregnant right away after their baby got stolen which i doubt which makes her younger than 16 – so why is Fik interested in being her friend and KB is apparently like 18
Then they say in the final episode that she is ’16’ which does mean that her mum got pregnant again very quickly which is strange especially considering the evidence that her father didn’t want the first baby.
How rich is KB if he can so easily get his honestly not that good song on the radio so fast?
What do all the different blazers mean?
Is it really that easy to just switch schools part way through the semester in South Africa?
They get into a club so what’s the deal with the drinking age, we know Fik is 17 so what?
How did no one see Fik and Coach having weird intimate moments in the school?
Puleng’s dad having notified an adoption agency that he wanted to give his baby up for adoption is not evidence that he trafficked her, if he had he would surely not have made such a big deal on the media about their baby being taken. Giving a baby up for adoption is not illegal. Wanting his wife to get an abortion also isn’t evidence that he trafficked his baby… so my question is, what’s the real evidence against Puleng’s father?
Netflix has announced a second season is coming which I truly hope is true because I feel like nothing was answered in the first 6 episodes. We are no closer to finding out what happened to Pumelele or what KB’s fathers involvement is. However, here is mine and my friends prediction;
We feel like Puleng’s father is going to be convicted of trafficking his daughter because it just seems more dramatic that way. However, we don’t think he was involved. We also don’t believe Fik is Pumelele because honestly, would you not want a baby from further away than the other side of town so it would be harder to find you with a baby that looks like the one on the news born around the same time. Also i don’t think they would be stupid enough to have Pumelele and not give her a different birth date even by 1 day since the birth certificate was likely faked you could pick a day earlier or a day later. We do think it is likely that Fik was a trafficked child or at the very least adopted because otherwise her parents behaviour makes no sense. That being said, could they not as wealthy people have gotten a baby through legitimate means? Either way, we don’t think that Fik is the baby or that Puleng’s father was involved.
Now, these are just predictions and I guess we shall see in the next season what is true. Let me know if you have checked out ‘Blood and Water’ yet and what you thought. I think it’s great to support international film and television especially in an accessible format like on Netflix so it would be great for support the foreign Netflix Originals like this.

4. Apparently Jason went to an ivy league?
5. If Jenna thinks Garret killed Alison why’d she come back and try and point the finger at people. Or a different way, why’d she stay away til Alison was ‘found’ if she “knew what happened”?
6. Why’s Sean so threatened by Lucas, also, Sean is boring.
7. If the police gave the DiLaurentis’s back Alison’s bracelet because she was wearing it when she died – how’d it stay down there, did it fall off in the hole and Alison left and Bethany went in on top of it or what? Doesn’t make sense that Bethany would have an Alison bracelet.
8. Wilden forcing Emily to out herself for no good reason is fucked.
9. He didn’t have a warrant so finding the letter or the statues is inadmissible surely.
10. Why did Ian break up with Melissa if she knew he was cheating?
11. Where did Mona get the Ian Alison video?
12. Why weren’t they just nicer to everyone, if the liars had just been nicer to Mona she might have stopped.
13. Why didn’t Ashley Marin just move house, why didn’t she sell that enormous house instead of stealing from an old woman
14. None of Aria’s friends stopped her and Ezra – the only person who is genuinely worried is Noel, and then they paint him as a bad guy.
15. Ashley steals the money then wastes a bunch of it on a private hospital room, why? This must be why she has money problems…
16. Alison comes back because she somehow knew Hanna was hit by a car, but not a soul saw her? She got into town, into the hospital and just walked around – flyers with her face on were still up and no one saw her? What about security cameras?
17. Why’d Spencer just give up on Alex when he was mad, she could’ve told him the truth. I liked Alex.
18. Hanna’s all pissed about being paid to dance with Lucas but like, I’d love to be paid $1000 to dance with someone one time, especially since Sean is so boring.
19. Paige tried to drown Emily and she didn’t report it.
20. Aren’t there security cameras in the school? Which could catch footage of Caleb stealing from vending machines and like, living there?
21. The bank has bad security against fraud.
22. Mrs Marin didn’t think Mrs potter would notice she had lost her key for an entire year?
23. Where’d Byron get Ezra’s home phone number?
24. If Paige had been into Emily since before Ali left (as we find out when Cece tells the story about Pig Skin and tricking Paige), then why would she try and drown her and be so homophobic to her, if she knew she had been into Emily for 2 yrs?
25. They constantly talk about Aria and Ezra in the school in public, what about people who eavesdrop?
26. They elude to Ashley Marin’s family problems in her childhood but they never explain it and I wish they just told us. Same goes for Byron’s brother’s issues that they elude to.
27. How did fake ID’s get 5 15yrolds into a college party where there were people checking IDs
28. So if Ezra was dating Jacquie on and off for 2 years, when was he dating Alison during that? and why was he obsessed with Ali’s disappearance?
29. SO they can’t take a private photo together but they can have each other’s names on their phones and text while they’re at school?
30. I don’t know how old Garret is but he’s also got a thing for younger girls…
31. Why did Ian go after Spencer? If he wasn’t A and he loved Melissa why would he try and kill her sister?
32. Who was paying for Alison’s storage locker for so long and why didn’t they wonder that? Also, why didn’t Alison come back for her key and leverage?
And here are my constant qualms throughout the series for anyone who missed them in the first post:

I started watching Pretty Little Liars in 2014 when a few seasons had already aired and I myself was 14. It was a show which carried me through my high school years, I became totally obsessed. I honestly still am a bit obsessed with PLL. It for me has a bit of nostalgia in the 2010’s music selection, lack of smartphones early on, great characters and a seemingly impossible story-line. This show is the thing I put on the TV when I don’t want to think or try anything new or I need to study because I already know what happens and I don’t need to actively watch to enjoy it. But even I can’t deny that the more times you watch the more questions you have and little errors you see. Maybe some of these for me just came with moving out of the teen-aged high schooler mindset that I noticed many of these things but I thought I’d share and do one of these for every seasons because I simply had too much to say to put all of Pretty Little Liars in 1 post. That said, there will be entire series spoilers in each of these posts so if you haven’t watched all of PLL be warned.
* Disclaimer, I love Pretty Little Liars however I have not read the books so I will not comment on the books. This is in no way intended to offend any one who was involved with the creation of the show as it for me was one of those shows that captured a whole group of people. So, get ready for another long one… Here’s every qualm I have with Pretty Little Liars season 1.
There will be a few consistent qualms across these posts so I’ll start with them
If they had just owned up to their actions and taken responsibility for themselves they could have stopped Mona and therefore Charlotte. But they were too worried about taking responsibility for themselves that they let themselves be terrorised.

So lets get started with every qualm I have with Pretty Little Liars season 1…
1. Where did Alison get the drugs she used to drug her friends into falling asleep the night she ‘died’?
2. Aria’s family up and moves to Iceland for a year, how? how did they get a visa for their entire family to move there for a year? Was Byron working, they said he was on sabbatical? Mike and Aria didn’t object to being pulled out of school and taken away from their friends for a year? Alison can’t have been missing long before they left since they were gone a year and get back on ‘the anniversary of Alison’s disappearance’. It must have cost a fortune. It also appears they moved their entire home with them. It just doesn’t make sense that Aria’s best friend goes missing and right after their entire family moves away, what would have happened if Alison was found would she still not have come back for a year?
3. Aria gets home and the first place she goes is a bar, shes 16. Its also a bar which appears to be on the Hollis College campus, what was she doing there?
4. We all know that Ezra is a creeper, he knows Aria’s age and knows she’ll probably be going to the school and knows she’s Alison’s friend – then literally hooks up with her. She’s underage. Ezra man, you could’ve watched the girls to find what happened to Alison from the outside, you didn’t have to get with Aria to do it.
5. Wren and Melissa move into the barn that Spencer’s parents told her if she renovated she could live in, that’s messed up.
6. Why did Mona wait so long to start texting the liars? If she really wanted Hanna to herself why did she not start sending the texts after Ali went missing? Even then, Mona said they were stealing Hanna but they hadn’t gotten close again yet. Also, why did Mona send them from Alison’s perspective and how could she realistically have had the surveillance on all of them (not just Alison) back before Alison went missing.
7. The idea of students sexualising a teacher is yucky. I was in high school not that long ago myself and it’s disgusting. I was in high school when PLL came out and it was still gross back then. But they really romanticize it.
8. How did Wren and Melissa ever get together? They seem way too different. Although, Wren is also a creeper.
9. Ezra shows up to Alison’s funeral. Now when you know his whole story of how he was dating Alison this makes sense, but in his cover story he has just started teaching at the school, there aren’t really that many people at this funeral and he shows up and no one thinks it’s strange.
10.Ezra kisses Aria at her best friends funeral, a bit of a strange choice Ezra, its her best friends FUNERAL!
11. They act like Jenna is this scary mean girl – but at the beginning the only thing they really know about Jenna is that Alison didn’t like her and that they blinded her. THEY blinded this girl and they act like she’s the plague. Why weren’t they incredibly nice to her if they were so worried that she might tell that they did it? There is no reason to treat her like this especially when none of the liars actually had any ill feelings towards her (in the beginning anyway).
12. I understand that sometimes characters have to be recast in shows but it still bothers me when we see a flashback of Ian and then its suddenly a different guy when he’s reintroduced and it happens so many times in PLL. Same with the DiLaurentis’s or Jason or Kate.

13. Ian is also obviously a creeper, he dates Melissa then cheats with her 15 year old younger sister, while he’s in College whilst also dating Alison who is ALSO 15 years old. That’s gotta be statutory.
14. The DiLaurentis’s move quite quickly in my opinion, their daughter hadn’t been missing for a year and they had already moved away and sold their house, wouldn’t they have stayed hoping Alison might come back there one day (or at least Mr D).
15. Counter point, Jessica DiLaurentis knew Alison’s body was buried on the property, if she didn’t want it discovered to cover for Charles why would she sell the house and why wouldn’t she want to be close to Alison and keep an eye on Wilden.
16. Sara Harvey – she makes no sense and that’s all I have to say about her showing up at the funeral, makes no sense to me.
17. Mona spends a lot of time just hoping she’ll get lucky and her A messages will be heard, for example; the radio shout out – what if Hanna wasn’t in the car at the exact time, what if it was a different liar, what if she wasn’t listening to the radio. How many wasted messages were sent which they didn’t receive because the timing didn’t line up?
18. Wilden goes a bit hard trying to frame them, Mrs. D must have paid him heaps to cover up Alison’s murder.
19. “Telling the truth now isn’t going to make Jenna see again, it’d just ruin our lives” —- as opposed to Toby’s life, which you already ruined and could fix. At least partially anyway.
20. Maybe y’all should just not get dressed next to windows which face other people’s houses? Then you wouldn’t have people peeping in on you. That’s what curtains and blinds are for girls.
21. They question Jenna being ‘A’ even though she was sat at the table with them in episode 2 while they all got an A text
22. Ella inviting Ezra to sit with her and Aria at the cinema with them is so weird.
23. How did Wilden get off speaking to them without parents so many times?
24. Wren says his mistake was falling for the wrong sister – Wren mate, you don’t even know Spencer yet but you’ve known Melissa for like a year. Did you really not love Melissa at all? And then they get back together after he had said that?
25. Ben tries to force himself on Emily in the bathroom and she never tells anyone or reports him.
26. Whatwas Toby doing in the girls locker room?
27. When did Maya and her bf break up?
28. How’d Mona run around Noel’s party in her ‘A’ get up without getting noticed with an outfit change, and all to steal some photo-booth photos
29. It doesn’t track that Spencer would straight copy paste Melissa’s assignment and submit it. There is no way she would be so careless as to not proof read and reword it before submitting, lucky they didn’t have turnitin back then aye.
30. They should be apologizing to Toby not treating him like hes ‘A’ if they think he’s ‘A’. even if they don’t, they should be grateful to him for taking the fall and trying to make sure he doesn’t decide to change his story.
31. Did Mr. Marin really think telling Hanna he was engaged to the woman he cheated with and was going to have a new daughter was “helping her through a rough patch”? And then doesn’t even warn her before he introduces her.
32. Ezra’s college roommate tells Ezra what we’ve all been thinking, everyone here knows the risks but I guess his book is worth jail time
33. Ezra uses the ‘A’ text to break up with Aria, if he was gonna give up so easy why’d he start with dating her instead of just doing his research without dating her
34. Sean is boring
35. Hanna rigging a door with the least amount of effort I’ve ever seen anyone put into anything…
36. Why does Alex so easily believe Melissa at the Homecoming dance – there is no reason to believe Melissa over Spencer.
37. That 2AM club doesn’t get the rep it deserves. This isn’t a PLL qualm because they use 2AM club several times but still. The 2AM club songs they use are so catchy!
38. The fortune teller is a dentist?

39. Why realistically couldn’t Hanna go literally any other time to get the Jenna file than during Homecoming.
41. How did Mona possibly get the writing on the Tarot Card and make sure that it was pulled when one of the Liars was getting their cards read and not someone else, seems a bit convenient….
